The Frenchie Highball

Frenchie Highball (1 von 1)

You know the Frenchie Cocktail made of gin, elderflower liqueur and fresh grapefruit juice? It was named “Frenchie” by the British who typecast the French due to their passion for St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur. Well, I really like this drink since it has a very refreshing and summery taste. And when I was  looking for a new idea for a refreshing Highball drink lately, it came into my mind to try out a modification of the Frenchie. The part of the grapefruit juice is played by the new Thomas Henry Ultimate Grapefruit Lemonade. It gives the drink a fresh and sparkling touch, so all ingredients for a simple, yet sophisticated Highball are there. With a use of 2 cl of gin and a barspoon of Elderflower Liqueur it’s not really strong, so it is an ideal companion on a warm summer evening. (I know…its February…)

When I had this drink I was incidentally eating some almonds. I don’t know why, but that really enhanced the whole pleasure. (Almonds and grapefruit seem to be some kind of foodpairing friends, so feel free to bring them together while enjoying your Frenchie Highball)

Recipe:

2 cl quality Gin (I’ve used Hendrick’s Gin since it has this nice rose & cucumber-freshness
1 Barspoon St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
Thomas Henry Ultimate Grapefruit (you can try other sparkling grapefruit lemonades, but be aware not to choose over sweetened ones)
2 Dashes The Bitter Truth Thomas Henry Tonic Bitters (this one is optional if you like to give it additional depth)

Preparation: Simply build up the drink by adding all the ingredients in a chilled glass filled with ice cubes (pour in the lemonade last) and carefully stir to combine everything.

Glass: Highball

Garnish: Grapefruit zest (optionally some almonds)
